Along with Edmund (white TT) and John Song (brown droptop Z), we picked up our Z's from storage.  That was a long 6 months, but the wait paid off.  It was sweet seeing our Z's again as we uncover them.  All our Z's started up without hesitation, hearing that engine rumble was great. The best part was our drive home, blue skies created the optimal droptop weather.

Exoticcoach.com Car Show

Well to give everyone a quick recap of last weekend's events, here's the low down. You can say we had some sort of bad "carma" that day. It first started with my Z not starting on Sunday. For some reason, the ongoing fuel pressure problems I've been having decided to creep up on Sunday and not let me start the car at all that day. Several troubleshooting steps were performed but still no luck. So with that, my droptop would stay in the garage for the day.

Bob Boberski (red widebody Z) was on route to my house with David when it was discovered he was leaking fluids on the highway. They turned around and headed straight home.

Jorge (silver Z with Veilside bodykit) and Jorge (maroon droptop) met at my house. So myself (driving daily driver), Edmund (white TT), and both Jorges depart my house. John Song and others were to meet at the show. At this point, our little caravan was eastbound on Irving Park on the left turn lane to enter Elgin-O'Hare Expressway heading to the show. I got the green arrow, cleared the opposite traffic, the Corvette behind me (this car got in between our caravan) also cleared the opposite lane, then while on the entrance ramp, I heard this "crash." I looked behind me and didn't see the silver Z. I pulled over to the side and started reversing, as I got closer I realized Jorge and another vehicle (Saturn) got into pretty much a head-on collison. Everyone got out of their cars to further investigate. Jorge was able to get out of his car with a slight limp. The other female driver was in so much pain we advised she stay in her vehicle. Both vehicles were from insurance purposes considered "totalled."

Our little group split, as half of us followed Jorge to the hospital and the others took care of getting the Z towed back to Jorge's house. As tragic as this accident seemed by seeing all the car pieces everywhere on the street, both driver's rec'd only "contusions." Better bruises than broken bones, as I say. As for the car, that can always be replaced.

Depsite the circumstances, our mood for the car show was pretty much drained. We were just all glad that the accident wasn't anything worse than it could've been. Jorge is okay and is home resting.

We stopped by the show after the whole incident as it was still going on. John Song was the only Z to enter and fortunately took home a trophy. Bob managed to fix his leak problem and also made it to the show. We stayed for an hour then headed home, we were just not in the mood.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this Sunday's car show at Chicagoland Z Cars in Barrington. My wife and I are leaving for California again. I got some low air fares to San Jose, CA. We just couldn't refuse the low fares, so we'll be there for Labor Day weekend. Depending when I get my fuel pressure problem fixed, I hope to see you all at the upcoming events.

Busee Woods Picnic update...

Although the weather wasn't the best for us, cloudy all day with some sprinkles here and there, it turned out to be a really fun time. The attendees at this picnic were; myself, Edmund (white TT), John (brown droptop), Matt (white NA to TT), Ruel (black TT), Andy (pearlwhite TT), Bob (red TT), David Z. (Z being repaired), Dave J. (drove daily driver), Jorge (drove daily driver), and everyone's significant others. Shawn from Bloomington tried to make it but unfortunately had a breakdown on his way up. He managed to get the Z towed. Spotted Jorge (red droptop) on our way out, by then it was too late, the group had already headed home. Hopefully next time Jorge.

We ended up having some great food to eat, fired up the grill and basically sat back and enjoyed. We all ended up tossing the frisbee around and at the end played a game of volleyball.

The highlights were John Song's custom hood, Matt's NA to TT conversion Z, and Bob's Z debut. Overall, it was a great time to hangout with friends. Thanks for all that attended.

Here are a few pics from the recent event... (Pics courtesy of Ruel).

Summer started with a bang, really busy due to the shows. Two major import events came to the Chicago area; ID Drag Wars and Hot Import Nights. Added two new projects to the list, (1) diamond thread aluminum accents to the engine bay and (2) mirrors to the trunk/audio area. This became a big hit at Hot Import Nights.

Hit list thus far:
ID Drag Wars - June 3rd "Best Of Show"
Hot Import Nights - June 30th "Hottest Nissan"

Plenty more shows to go and a few more projects lined up. Also redesigned the layout of this site a bit.

Spring is finally here but the Z is still in storage. It should be out probably 1st weekend in May. That's what happens when you live in the Midwest, only a few months of droptop weather.

November 26, 2000

This year's import season was a major success. I had a blast, met new freinds, completed some major projects, and took home some wins for the droptop Z. This year sure went by quickly.

The winner's hit list for 2000;
JUL 2000: ID Drag Wars - "1st Place Nissan Wild Class"
SEP 2000: Chicagoland Z Cars - "2nd Place 4th/Gen Z"
OCT 2000: Battle of the Imports - "1st Place 2door Class"
OCT 2000: Octoberfest Z Car Show - "1st Place 4th/Gen Z"
OCT 2000: ID Drag Wars - "Best of Show"

The Z is now 'officially' in storage, too bad for our Chicago winters, time for them winter projects. For those that drive year-round, enjoy your Z. See you all next.

September 27, 2000

Okay, it's been a while since my last update. Work/school, etc., it's been busy. The WCZC car show at Chicagoland Z Cars had a low turnout due to the rain early that morning. Also a disappointing reschedule of the ID Drag Wars from 9/10 to 10/15. Getting ready for the big event this weekend, been driving the Z and loving it. I just wished I put more miles and enjoyed the drive more.

August 31, 2000

Okay, since I haven't been driving the Z as much as I promised the battery seems to be shot. Looks like time for a new battery, hmmm maybe the new "Security Die Hard."

June 22, 2000

I made the move to tripod mainly due to an easier site name to remember and the higher memory capacity, 50megs. My original website; http://homepages.msn.com/hobbyct/cruzes1/zhome.html will remain stagnate. I will be using this site for ease of use and to load tons of pics, since that's what everyone enjoys most.

I'm still working on a few things and will update pics whenever I get a chance to take them. So just keep your eyes open for updates. This site won't be anything fancy, mainly a place to reside pics in.

As for cruzes1, it's time to enjoy the ride. I'm gonna definitely drive the Z more this year. Last year I only drove it 500 miles due to misc. projects I had going, the interior being the most time consuming.
